Delivery SystemsContinuous interaction between students and faculty is a priority of the distance learning program in Business Education. Interaction among students is also a top priority of the program. Discussion boards and the use of e-mail are utilized on a regular basis as requirements for all courses in the distance learning program. Distance learning students interact on a regular basis with both on-campus students and other distance learning students to strengthen the learning process. As courses are designed for distance learning, interaction between students and faculty and between students and other students is an element of the design. Professors deliver readings and assessments via electronic distribution. Discussions that involve two-way interaction are conducted through electronic discussion boards and chat rooms. Video cameras record presentations and are available via the internet. Students submit oral presentations via videotapes. The tapes are captured and posted as streaming video files so other students may view the presentations. The message boards allow more time for students to ask questions about the presentations than is possible in a traditional course. Students employ electronic means to submit papers and projects. Detailed tutorials for utilizing the necessary technology are available to all distance-learning students. Such tutorials include information and links to library services, students services and any other services determined to be appropriate. Classrooms utilized for distance learning are enhanced by appropriate up-to-date equipment. Updates are made as necessary. |
