Flexibility in the program allows students to balance educational objectives
with work and family commitments.
- Three options
exist for the Business Education Distance Learning Program...
- Students with
an undergraduate degree in Business Education or B-level certification
in Business Education may enroll in the distance education Master
of Education (M.Ed.) program and be eligible for '
Alabama Class A certification'.
- Students with master’s degree certification in Business
Education may enroll in the Education Specialist (Ed.S)
in Business Education program. Upon completion, students
will be eligible for “ Alabama Class
AA certification.”
- Students with an undergraduate degree in a business area, who
have not completed teacher certification requirements, may enroll
in the 5th Year Alternative M.Ed. in Business Education program.
Upon completion, students will be eligible for “Alabama Class
A certification.” The
Alternative Master's Certification Program is an innovative approach
to teacher education designed for individuals with baccalaureate
degrees in certifiable fields who have not completed requirements
for certification to teach. The main purpose of the program is
to prepare outstanding individuals to become successful classroom
teachers.
- Courses emphasize
practical applications and research for business instruction.
- Students gain
expertise from both faculty who have business education experience
and fellow teacher-students.
- Non-degree seeking
and graduate students enrolled at other universities may also take
the courses.
- The Business Education program is accredited by the Alabama
State Department of Education and the National Council for Accreditation
of Teacher Education. This program meets or exceeds the standards for
graduate teacher preparation published by the National Association
for Business Teacher Education in the Business Teacher Education
Curriculum Guide and Program Standards. This program
prepares teachers to implement the National Standards for Business
Education published
by the National Business Education Association and the Alabama
Course of Study—Business/Marketing Education.
