Title: Laplace comparison theorem and convergence of Kähler-Ricci flows.

Abstract:  We will review the classical Laplace and relative volume comparison theorems on Riemannian manifolds with Ricci curvature bounded from below. Then we will show that, after suitable conformal change, versions of these theorems persist on Kähler-Ricci flows without extra curvature assumptions. Applications to the convergence issue are also discussed.

Speaker Bio:
Qi S. Zhang is Professor of Mathematics at the University of California, Riverside. He received his Ph.D. from Purdue University in 1996, held a postdoctoral position at the University of Missouri, and was Assistant Professor at the University of Memphis before joining UC Riverside in 2001; he has been Professor there since 2006. His research lies in partial differential equations and geometric analysis, with interests including parabolic equations with singular coefficients, heat kernel estimates, Ricci flow, and blow-up phenomena for parabolic and wave equations.
