Curriculum and Course Work
Thesis option
M.S. degree in geography and environmental studies thesis option requires a minimum of 30 semester hours and the successful completion of a thesis. The 30 hours include the following:
- 24 hours of graduate-level geography courses (including):
- GEOG 6700 Quantitative Methods and Spatial Analysis
- GEOL 7100 Geocommunication
- 18 hours of graduate-level electives (12 hours must come from geography)
- 6 hours of Research and Thesis credit
Non-thesis option
M.S. degree in geography and environmental studies non-thesis option requires a minimum of 39 semester hours and the successful completion of a comprehensive written and oral examination by an approved faculty committee. The 39 hours include the following:
- 6 hours of required courses (including):
- GEOG 6700 Quantitative Methods and Spatial Analysis
- GEOL 7100 Geocommunication
- 33 hours of graduate-level electives (18 hours must come from geography)
