Welcome from COSAM's Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies Office
The College of Sciences and Mathematics is committed to developing and maintaining world-class research programs that will train the next generation of scientists and mathematicians. Our faculty and staff are bringing into the university over $11 million per year of new external competitive funding to support the research, education, and outreach activities in COSAM. Research activities in this college covers a broad range of activities that includes topics as diverse as theoretical and experimental physics, advanced mathematics, ecology and biodiversity, computational and experimental chemistry and biochemistry, and basic and applied geosciences. COSAM is also leading new multi-departmental research efforts including biophysics, materials science, and discipline-based education research.
The Office of the Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies (ADR Office) was established to assist faculty, staff, and graduate and undergraduate students with matters related to research. We work closely with the Office of Sponsored programs and other units on campus. Our office is located in Science Center Classrooms Building, Room 248.
The ADR office is responsible for:
- Assisting faculty, students, and staff with the development, approval and management of internal and external research funding;
- Managing the faculty and graduate student travel award programs;
- Managing the COSAM component of the Auburn University Undergraduate Research Fellowship Program;
- Providing seed funding for research projects, conferences, and other activities that enhance the profile and visibility of COSAM research;
- Working with the members of the COSAM Research Advisory Committee to proactively address research needs of faculty;
- Providing administrative support for COSAM-based conferences, meeting, and workshops;
- Recognizing faculty and student success in research through the COSAM Research Awards.
We are committed to fostering a positive research environment that promotes excellence, improves research competitiveness and provides mentoring for faculty and student success in research.
