Technology Purchasing Guidelines
All COSAM employees are required to coordinate with COSAM IT for purchases that involve technology hardware, software, or online services to ensure that compatibility, licensing, and security standards are properly followed. We cannot guarantee that unapproved equipment will be supported or permitted to operate on the AU Network.
University-owned computers and related devices (desktop computers, laptops, cell phones, etc.) must be configured to comply with appropriate configuration and security requirements (See Standards and Policies below), including anti-virus protection and password-protected logins. The IT requirements of Auburn University still govern devices housed in off-campus offices because networks in remote offices are connected through the Auburn University network.
Major technology projects that are supported by grant funds are to be managed by COSAM Information Technology. Outside contracts, TES appointments, Outreach Coordinators, or other efforts to produce, manage, or modify technology-based materials are not allowed without the advance approval and review of COSAM IT. Unapproved projects will not be funded or supported.
