Alabama Science and Engineering Fair (ASEF)

ASEF is the official fair for the State of Alabama and is an affiliate fair of the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (Regeneron ISEF).  Regeneron ISEF is the world’s largest international pre-college science competition and provides a forum for millions of students from over 50 countries, regions and territories to showcase independent research annually.

At ASEF, the winners of Alabama’s four Regional Fairs listed below compete in either the Senior Division (grades 9-12) or Junior Division (grades 6-8) for an in-person competition.  All participants are required to fill out additional ASEF-specific forms in STEM Wizard.

To learn more about ASEF Rules, please visit the Student, Parent and Teacher Information.

We look forward to hosting ASEF 2027 on the campus of Auburn University

The STEM Expo at ASEF

The Alabama Science and Engineering Fair annually hosts a STEM is Everywhere Expo while judges scores are tabulated.  Our goal during the Expo is to highlight exciting STEM careers and activities!

Organizations from academia, industry, and business serve as liaisons. Informational tables, displays and short interactive activities that highlight the breadth of STEM programs and careers are present.

We are happy to announce a partnership between ASEF and DataClassroom. The DataClassroom web-app is a tool for graphing, statistics, and data analysis in the grade 6-12+ science and math classroom. Science fair teachers around the country have found it especially useful as it directly supports students in choosing appropriate graphs and statistical tests for their science fair projects. This partnership is offering up to two free DataClassroom licenses at each school in the state of Alabama. Current DataClassroom customers are not eligible. Please email kyd0002@auburn.edu for more information.
